Mayor welcomes new Council tenant.
Mayor Garry Jackson popped in for a visit with Mr Harrington who last month took up residence in one of three new Council pensioner cottages in Amberley.
The units were built at no cost to ratepayers thanks to generous financial assistance from the Canterbury Community Trust.
All of the new units have double glazing, heat pumps, dishwashers and solar heating. Mr Harrington commented that his unit was lovely and warm and that he was really happy with his new home.
Mayor Jackson thoroughly enjoyed his visit and was captivated by Mr Harrington’s stories about his working life on high country stations. The pair also discovered they shared an interest in horses.
