Earthquake prone Buildings

In accordance with section 132 of the Building Act 2004 Council has adopted an Earthquake prone, Dangerous and Insanitary Buildings Policy that became effective on the 22 May 2006.

This policy will apply when an application for building consent is sought for alterations and changes of use to buildings designed prior to 1976, excluding buildings that are used wholly or mainly for residential purposes unless the building comprises 2 or more storeys; and contains 3 or more household units.
