Operative Plan Change 17 – Miscellaneous
Plan Change 17 became operative on 18 January 2010. Plan Change 17 makes a number of separate and miscellaneous changes that have been identified by the Council as being necessary to correct anomalies in the District Plan or to provide greater certainty when assessing activities for compliance. In general, the changes are corrections of inconsistencies in the Plan and changes to schedules as a result of resource consent processes. Additionally, there are changes to clarify rule interpretation and to include site-specific changes requested by the community. The proposed changes are:
- An additional definition is provided to clarify the interpretation of the standards relating to vehicular access;
- The interpretation of the Hanmer Basin Design Standards is clarified.
- A rule is added that provides for the construction of a single dwelling as a permitted activity on selected General Management Zone titles in Cheviot;
- Rules requiring a community sewage system are clarified;
- The activity status for minimum area requirement is made consistent for land use and subdivision rules;
- The status of unspecified activities is clarified for urban areas and the Hanmer Basin;
- Rural stock underpasses are exempted from road setbacks;
- An additional notable tree is scheduled and mapped, the location of one listing is corrected, and two listings are removed;
- Clarifies the extent of viewing points for buildings and structures on ridges;
- Visitor accommodation in rural areas is provided for;
- Inland Scenic Route 72 is re-classified as a Strategic Arterial road; and
- Concerts are included in temporary activities.
