| |  Bronze Medallion success for Hurunui Youth Programme participants The first ever Bronze Medallion training course run by the Amberley Swimming Pool over the last three Saturdays has proven to be a huge success. The course was run as part of the Hurunui Youth Programme, and the 27 participants who sat the Bronze Medallion and Bronze Star Assessments all passed.

| |  Funds will bring back the birds The Port Robinson Reserves Committee has received $5,000 from the Honda Tree Fund, through Environment Canterbury. The funds will be used to reintroduce native tree species (missing from the coastal flora) back into the coastal reserves and valleys to help provide native bird food. The committee will work with the Department of Conservation and Trees for Canterbury on this project.
| |  Out of Control Holly Tamed Reports that the holly in the oak plantation in the Cheviot Hills Reserve had got out of hand were definitely not exaggerated! A community service worker has done an exceptional job cutting and clearing the area - not an easy task; and the reserve is now looking amazing.
| |  Traffic Lights For Amberley The three new flashing school signs popped up in Amberley last Thursday, and although the local children seemed to be more interested in their bright colours, flashing lights and solar power source; parents and teachers immediately noticed the slowing effect on traffic speed while they were operating. ...(more)
