The Hurunui District Council’s ‘Hurunui Community Plan’ is for the period from 2004 to 2014. This is our Long Term Council Community Plan. Copies are available online and at the Council libraries and service centres The Hurunui Community Plan is in two volumes. Volume one gives information about the Hurunui district, community outcomes, key projects, groups of Council activities, financial overviews and Council policies. Volume two gives detailed information about each Council activity - that is, what we as a Council do. The Hurunui Community Plan will be reviewed every 3rd year with an “abridged” Annual Plan in the two intervening years. Each Annual Plan will now include an account of how the Council is contributing to the community outcomes outlined in the Hurunui Community Plan, as well as Council policies and financial information. A key feature to the Hurunui Community Plan, is the new “Community Outcomes” framework. The community outcomes are aspirations/goals that are generated by the District’s community and which form a common agenda for the Council, the Regional Council, Mäori, Central Government and other groups and organisations to work towards in the achievement of overall community well-being.
