Community Wishing Tree
Last year Hurunui District Council’s inaugural Community Wishing Tree appeal was a huge success, with 222 presents left at council for distribution by the Lions to people in the community who might be in need a little Christmas cheer – young, old, or in between – for any number of reasons, as a way our community sharing a little Christmas spirit.
We’ve just put up the Christmas tree again in the Amberley Council and people are already arriving with gifts. The idea is to take a gift tag from the tree, specific, where appropriate, the age and gender of the intended recipient (for example, teenage boy, baby girl, adult, etc) and place it under the tree for the Amberley and Glenmark Lions to deliver.
We suggest that for children, avoid noisy or battery operated presents. For adults, avoid perishable foods including chocolates, as on the delivery day it could be quite warm in the cars. Please drop presents in to either Amberley Council or Amberley library by Monday 23 December.
