Consent procedures get the big tick

Hurunui’s building consent team has become the first in the country to pass the third round of accreditation assessments.

Chief Executive Andrew Dalziel says a rigorous audit has been carried out on all systems and procedures to ensure the council is acting appropriately and within central Government’s regulations.

“The international accreditation authority goes through absolutely everything to be sure we have dotted all the ‘i’s and crossed all the ‘t’s.”

He says the council is obviously very pleased to pass the comprehensive assessment.

“What it means is that our ratepayers and developers can take heart the work we are doing has been independently assessed as best practice.”

Hurunui processes around 400 consents annually.
