Facelift for Amberley moves a step closer

Tenders have been called for the revamping of entranceways to the north and south of Amberley Township.

Design work was consulted on with the community earlier this year and features new plantings, signage and striking timber facades at both entranceways.

Environmental Services Manager, Andrew Feierabend says the improvements will help cement Amberley as the southern gateway to the district. New lighting and street furniture will also feature along what will become known as the ‘Hurunui Pathway’, which will extend along most of the length of the main street from Bank Street to Douglas Road.

The Pathway will ultimately capture stories associated with the Hurunui District providing interest for locals and visitors.

The tender notice for the entranceways and pathway project was advertised Saturday August 7th and a contract is expected to be let in early September.

It’s hoped work will be completed before the end of December this year.
