New Life Breathed Into Rotherham Hall

The Rotherham Hall sustained damage as a result of the November 2016 earthquake and was no longer weather-tight and fit for purpose. The Hurunui District Council and its contractors have worked to restore the hall to its previous state and the project is now complete.

Repairs, including a vast amount of plastering and painting work throughout, were carried out by Paget Contractors and were completed on time and within budget under the management of the council’s Building Team.

Hurunui District Council Project Manager, Gary Harris, says the project was an important one for the council as the hall is a building of significance in the district.

“As the hall is such an important landmark for the community due to its use as a gathering space, the completion of this project is even more special.  It is fantastic to have the repairs completed and have the hall available for use once again.”

The repairs to the Rotherham Hall were made possible by Lottery grants received by the council from the Department of Internal Affairs.
