North Canterbury Contractor Awarded Roading Contract

Hurunui District Council is pleased to announce that Sicon Ferguson Ltd has been awarded the district Road Maintenance Contract, for the next three years beginning 1 July 2015, after a strongly contested tender process alongside three other well-known contractors in Canterbury’s road maintenance business.

Officers and elected members developed a new innovative road maintenance contract that will better serve the needs of the Hurunui Community.

So the community can bid a fond Hurunui hello to the crew in white utes and trucks brandishing Sicon’s logo and demonstrating the company’s vision of ‘building and preserving the foundations for communities to thrive’.

Dave Wilson, Sicon’s CEO, said “This contract is important to Sicon and we want to make sure that the public know what is going on in their district. We want to focus on the needs of this contract in isolation of our other contract commitments elsewhere.”

The Sicon team is looking forward to working alongside Hurunui residents and ratepayers, so expect to see them at council meetings, community meetings, and at local schools - where they will be promoting road safety.

While we will be saying goodbye to Downer at a local level, they will still be working here in the district as they currently hold the NZTA State Highways maintenance contract for the area.
