Draft Reserve Management Plan - Amberley Eastern Reserve

Draft Reserve Management Plan - Amberley Eastern Reserve

The Council seeks your input and ideas:

Hurunui District Council is intending to prepare a draft reserve management plan under section 41(5)(a) of the Reserves Act 1977. This is the first management plan prepared for this reserve. The management plan will include objectives and policies for this reserve area. Figure 1 shows the area to be included in the management plan. The reserve is located on the corner of Double Corner Road and Fantail Avenue and is located within the Tekoa Estates subdivision.

It is intended that the reserve comprises a cricket oval with associated facilities to relieve the load on the Amberley Reserve (Domain) due to the increasing demand for sport and recreation space for a growing population.

As part of the preparation, the Council has established a stakeholder group, comprised of Councillors and representatives from identified interest groups. The stakeholder group and Council invite written suggestions or comments to be considered in the preparation of the draft reserve management plan.

As well as any overall ideas or comments for the reserve, the stakeholder group would welcome suggestions for a proposed name for the reserve. Any naming suggestions should be accompanied by a reason for the proposed name.

Please send your suggestions to:

What happens from there?

A draft reserve management plan will be prepared taking into account any feedback received. This will be presented to the Council, who, subject to any changes, will adopt the draft management plan for public consultation. You will then have an opportunity to submit on the content of the draft management plan.
