The future of the former Amuri County Chambers

ACCLet’s talk about what the Amuri County Chambers site and buildings could look like in the future!

We are seeking to engage with the community about all the options you see for the buildings and the site - including recognising its special history.

We are aware that these buildings and site are of value to the community, and so feedback from this consultation will be used to help shape future options.

The Site:

The former Amuri County Chambers site was historically used as the Amuri County Council’s administrative headquarters. The geographic and social development of Amuri is in part due to the cohesion created by a County Council and its location in Culverden.

The site contains an office building which is listed as a historic building in the Hurunui District Plan. The brick fence at the front of the property (of which part was destroyed by a motor vehicle accident) is also listed as a historic feature. Behind the office is a two storey office building which contains most of the Council archives. Also on site is a shed, one of our water depots and a four bay shed used as a bus depot.

Consultation

We have put together a project team to help all of us discuss the future of the Amuri county chambers. Our consultation will include a variety of opportunities for discussion and the project team would like to catch up with you to become familiar with what the community wants for the building and site.

The project team includes:

Feel free to have a chat with any of the project team about the Amuri County Chambers!
