Leithfield Beach Village water Shut off  - Thursday 22/06/17

This shut down is to undertake water monitoring and safety work to the scheme. The water will be off between 1pm and 3pm.

Please ensure you have enough water to get through.

If anything changes we will update you via our facebook page.

Thank you for your patience as this work is carried out.

Postponement of the Hurunui No. 1 Rural Water Scheme
New date:  Tuesday 20 June, 6am - 4pm

Due to the high winds forecast for Tues the work has been postponed for one week. The nature of the work requires the use of a crane and high winds will make this unsafe under those conditions.

This shut down is to allow for safety work on the No. 1 intake and to improve network stability.

We have allowed one day for the shut-down to cover any unforeseen events. If all goes to plan we would expect that the intake will be back on by the afternoon.

Please ensure you have enough stored water to get you through this closure. We will keep you updated on any changes to the shut down.

Thank you for your patience whilst this work is being carried out.

UPDATE Cheviot Rural Water Scheme - Friday  09/06/17

Good news – we’re pumping water again.

The team has used some number 8 wire thinking and done a marvelous job to get the water flowing again.

We’re pumping with slightly less capability than usual but the volume is sufficient for this time of year. The scheme will start to recover through the night, with the water supply returning to normal, possibly as early as tomorrow afternoon. Please continue to be conscious of your water usage through this time

This is only a temporary fix and planning for a permanent solution has already started

Late last night we had a fire in the main intake shed of the Cheviot scheme. The cause is currently unknown.

The main reservoir is now empty, meaning no more water is available. The township reservoir is half full but will diminish quickly.

Assessments are underway and you will be kept up to date. Early indications are that we can get water up and running by Saturday evening. 10/06/17

If you are medically dependent on water please let us know. 033148816

we will continue to update via facebook

Why do we need to shut down water schemes?

From time to time, with little or no notice, a water scheme needs to be shut down for a short period of time. This occurs for a variety of reasons, for example:

Our Utilities staff work around the clock where there is a need, to ensure that a continuous flow is maintained to your property.
