Your... Opportunities, Success, Legacy!
Hi, I'm Roddy.
My interests include politics, sports, and outdoors.
This is my third year on the Hurunui Youth Council which I joined to help young people in Hurunui and to have a representative voice for the young people of our district on issues that concern them.
Hello, my name is Shanaya and this is my second year as a member of HYC.
I'm currently in my last year of school at Rangiora High.
I enjoy travelling with my family around New Zealand and baking. I am looking forward to being apart of HYC this year!
My name is Damien but most people call me Damo.
2021 will be my first year in the HYC crew and hopefully not the last. I joined the youth council because I always felt like my voice was never heard and being a part of the youth council I feel that I would be able to not only voice my opinions but the voices of the Hurunui Youth.
I am a year 13 student at Hurunui College studying Outdoor Education, Hospitality and Tourism. Along with these subjects I work up in Hanmer Springs at the Hanmer Springs Attractions doing work experience. My plan for the future is to study Tourism at either QRC or NZST.
Outside of school I enjoy playing football and hanging with my mates.
My favourite part of this year so far would have to be attending the Social Experiment in Kaiapoi, two days of spending time with a brilliant bunch of peeps was da bomb. If you see me or any of my fellow HYC members out and about, come and have a chat with us, I can promise you we aren’t as scary as we may look.
Hello there, my name is John-Xavier Fairbrother and I'm on the HYC for 2021.
I'm a Amberley lad, I went to Middleton Grange last year and graduated Year 13. This year I am going to UC completing a CUP Course and then following down the path of psychology.
I look forward to working with and for the youth of Hurunui on the HYC.
Hi, I'm Liam and I am year 11 at Cheviot Area School.
I am interested in photography and educating others about LGBTQ+.
I look forward to 2021 and being on the HYC.
Hi, I'm Luke and I'm 14 and go to Hurunui College.
I was in HYP 2 years ago, it was premo! My first event was the Nui Hui in 2017. This year is my first year on the Hurunui Youth Council and I'm looking forward to what's ahead.
Hi! I'm Maggie Ferguson and I am very musically minded and love the environment.
I'm a huge outdoors person and compete in a trap team with Millie-Jane McIlraith and I can't wait to hear your ideas.
Hi, I'm Millie-Jane. I'm 14 and go to Hurunui College.
I trapshoot and I am the captain of the Hurunui College Girls Team. I have a great love for the arts, and the environment and I am looking forward to this on HYC.
Hi, I'm Natasha.
It's my first time being a Hurunui Youth Council Member for 2021. Outside of the youth council I love playing with my guinea pig and going on the farm with my dad. I help him out with fencing and stock work. That is what I love to do because it is fun and enjoyable and I love working with animals. I love running and being active, doing sports like netball, tennis and many other activities.
Being on the HYC team is a big step up for me. Meeting new people, getting out and about in my community to meet lots of different people and how you can help them out, as well as me being able to help them.
Hi, I'm Noah age 17. I've been on the youth council for two years with this being my third, looking forward to continuing on this year with another awesome crew.
My name is Samantha Wayne.
I am a first time Hurunui Youth Council member for 2021. Outside of youth council I love looking after little kids and would love to pursue a career in preschool teaching.
I joined the youth council because I enjoy working with young people and helping them find a voice to speak up about issues, I also joined to be involved in the community.
Being on the HYC team this year has been an exciting time. With new team members and getting out meeting new youth within the Hurunui, it's been a great time. One of my most enjoyable moments was getting to know everyone in the Hurunui Youth Council and I am looking forward to many more adventures to come.
