Significant road works happening
Watermain
upgrade, Amberley
Hurunui
District Council has engaged Trenching Dynamix to carry out the essential
watermain upgrades in Amberley. The pipe upgrade will replace the existing
drinking watermain running from the Kowai water treatment plant through to
Amberley township along SH1.
The
new pipe will be of a larger diameter making it more reliable and allow for
future growth of Amberley.
The
works will be carried out in stages along this route (the red section on this
map, starting at the water treatment plant at Kowai River south branch) and
will include several road crossings by drilling under the State Highway.
As
part of this upgrade, Kowai River Road, Hursley Terrace Road and Crosses Road
will experience some road closures during the project.

River Road from Hursley Terrace Road as far as house number 30:

Terrace Road from Kowai River Road to the junction at Crosses Road:
Southbound
lane closed from Crosses Road junction to allow polyethylene pipe welding.
Therefore, road will be open northbound, but detour out will be via Crosses
Road for southbound traffic.
