Road stopping: Conical Hill Road (unformed portion)
Council are proposing to stop part of the unformed portion of Conical Hill Road in Hanmer Springs. An unformed road is a legal road that has not been improved or shaped in a significant way (the term “paper road” is often used for unformed legal roads).
We are proposing to change land with the legal status of road to a freehold title. In this case the portion of road when stopped will be utilised as part of the Conical Hill Reserve. The unformed road proposed to be stopped currently contains the first section of the Conical Hill walkway.
The stopping of this portion of Conical Hill Road is to enable proposed enhancement to the entrance of the very popular Conical Hill Walkway. Plans of the proposed enhancement are available to view here. Community consultation on the enhancement was carried out in December 2018 - January 2019 and the upgrades were approved by Council. Toilets will be installed in this area, funded from the Tourism Infrastructure Fund.
A copy of the public notice is available here.
