SALE BY TENDER: 30 & 32 Mountainview Road, Culverden
Description
The properties being located on busy State Highway 7 in the central business area of the Culverden Township, are in a prime position. 30 Mountainview Road comprises a historic building which has been identified as special to the local community. The historic building is identified as H45 - Amuri County building (former) in the Hurunui District Plan.
The building was built in 1929 and was used as the Amuri County Council's administrative headquarters until 1989. Unfortunately, the condition and layout of the historic building mean it is infrequently used and no doubt could well benefit with some major refurbishment. The facade of the building has already been strengthened after being damaged in the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake.
As well as the historic building on 30 Mountainview Road, the brick fence at the front of the property, which also extends along the front of 32 Mountainview Road, is also listed in the Hurunui District Plan as a historic feature (H59). Behind the historic building, is a two-storey office building, built in the 1960s, and also on the site is a 4 bay open shed and a depot, which were both constructed in the 1970s.
32 Mountainview Road comprises a shed which was constructed in the 1920s, with part of the shed extending onto 30 Mountainview Road.
The community has recently provided feedback on the future use of the historic building and site. The majority of the feedback identified that the original historic building and in particular the facade and the meeting room were special to the community.
