West Ward By-Election 2020
This by-election covers the extraordinary vacancy for one member of the West Ward. The extraordinary vacancy has arisen from the resignation of West Ward Councillor Jason Fletcher.
Nominations Open Thursday 21 May
Nominations Close 12 Noon, Thursday 18 June
If more than one nomination is received, an election will be held by postal vote and polling day will be Friday 14 August, 2020.
To be eligible for nomination, candidates must be a New Zealand citizen and be enrolled on the New Zealand electoral roll. While candidates can reside anywhere in New Zealand, their two nominators must be currently enrolled in the West Ward.
The preliminary electoral roll is available for inspection until 18 June from the council offices and libraries.

If an election is required then this will be conducted by postal vote using the First Past the Post voting electoral system, under the provisions of the Local Electoral Act 2001 and Local Electoral Regulations 2019.
