All new property files are created in an electronic format, and Council is currently digitising the remaining paper files. All property file requests incur an administration charge for preparation. Our fees are reviewed annually.

• Requester name and phone number (so we can contact you if required)
• Address for the invoice
What is provided
Information in a property file may include:
• Building Permits
• Building Consents (approved plans / code compliance certificates)
• Certificate of Acceptance plans
• Exemptions
• Project Information Memoranda (PIMs)
• Resource Consent Decisions
• Correspondence with Council regarding the property
• As laid drainage plans
• Third party reports
What is not provided
Information that is not on a property file but included in a LIM:
• Land or water rates information
• Levy information
• Valuation information
• District Plan zoning or planning areas information
• Information on natural hazards
• Water supply information
It is unlikely Council holds any original plans for properties built before the 1950s. We also cannot guarantee that the information you require will be included in a property file. The file only includes work we know about. If work was done without consent, it will not be in the property file.
A property file does not replace a LIM report. We recommend ordering both for a comprehensive view of your property information.
