Learn to Swim
Learn to swim
Everything we do revolves around helping kids learn how to be safer in and around the water. That’s why we practice water safety during every lesson! Drowning remains a major cause of injury-related death among children, and while drowning prevention requires layers of protection, swim lessons have been shown to reduce the risk of drowning by 88%!With every kick, stroke and breath, all of our students gain confidence in themselves and their abilities—because every small win adds up to a BIG sense of accomplishment.

Children’s lessons Aged 4+
This season we are happy to advise that we will be offering lessons on Saturday mornings as well as after school on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. As you can appreciate however, we need to run each lesson at full capacity because the Learn to Swim program is fully self-funded. If classes do not meet the minimum number threshold we may need to adjust the timing or even cancel.
All lessons are to be paid prior to commencement of first lesson. An updated online registration form is required for each family even if one has been completed previously.
Please note that even if just one checkbox isn’t ticked off – that is the level they will be placed in. Please do not register your child in a class above their ability as we will not be able to keep them in that class and an alternative class at the correct level may not be available to move in to.
To help you we are providing free assessments to confirm your child’s level. To book an assessment or if you have any questions please call the pool on 314-0024 or you can email us at amberley.pool.govt.nz
Children must be at least four years old and must be tall enough to have their head above water while comfortably standing at the shallow end of the main pool. If they are unable to do this a parent or guardian will need to be in the pool with them for the duration of their lesson.
Please also note that during lessons, both of the pools are CLOSED to the public and only open for the learn to swim lessons. This closure also applies to students swimming before/after their sessions.
Level 1 classes are 15 minutes each
Level 2 classes are 20 minutes each
Level 3-8 classes are 25 minutes each
The final timetable of classes offered will depend on the registration numbers. Please note on your registration form if you have preferences or days/times you are unable to attend. We cannot guarantee we will be able to meet these but will do our best.
