Location: 10 Overtons Road, Scargill.
Update as at April 2018:
The Scargill Hall sustained significant damage during the November 2016 earthquakes. Following community consultation, the Council has received estimates for the demolition of the hall, as well as removal of asbestos prior to demolition.
The Council is proposing to upgrade the Scargill Motunau Domain Pavilion. This includes a proposed extension so that the Pavilion can be used for community events in place of the hall.
Concept plans have been drawn up for the Pavilion upgrade, with an estimated cost of approximately $343,740.
The Council has $42,000 to commit to the Pavilion upgrade and $100,000 has been sourced from the Sutherland Trust.
If there is community support for the proposal then the Council is going to seek the remainder of the balance from Lotteries New Zealand, who have indicated support for the project.
