Glass recycling, no change for Hurunui District, yet
How you recycle your glass in Hurunui will remain the same until 2027, despite new national standards being introduced by the government.
Led by the Ministry of Environment, under the Transforming Recycling legislation, most councils around New Zealand will be standardising the way their recycling and organics are collected, from tomorrow, Thursday February 1 2024, which includes kerbside glass recycling.
Hurunui District Council is one of three councils exempt from this change until 2027.
Please continue to take your glass to the transfer stations, unless you live in Hanmer Springs where kerbside glass recycling does happen.
