Roads & Transport
The Council aims to provide a transport network that is safe and accessible for all people throughout the Hurunui District by maintaining and improving the network.
- 616.1 km of sealed roads
- 843.8 km of unsealed roads
- 280 bridges
- 94,204 square meters of footpath
- 59.3 km of kerb and channel
- 1004 street lights
- 7715 traffic signs
To do this, we undertake a comprehensive work programme, which involves new and significant projects to ensure the continuous upkeep and improvement of roading assets. We monitor and audit the entire network for safety and quality of workmanship.
