Temporary Road Closure - Waipara Fireworks

The Hurunui District Council has approved an application from the Waipara Fireworks Committee to run the Annual Fireworks Display event.

For safety, this event requires the temporary closure of:

All of Church Road between SH1 and Glenmark Drive,
From the corner of Glenmark Drive and Church Road to Kings Road, Waipara.
Friday 6 November 2026
Postponement Date: Saturday, 7 November 2026
From 5pm to 11pm

This closure is made under paragraph 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974. This applies to all vehicular traffic with the exception of emergency services vehicles.

It will be an offence under the above regulations for any person, other than those under authority of an authorised permit, to use the road for ordinary vehicular traffic during the period of closure.
