Pōti Elections

Every three years elections are held when you get to vote for a Mayor and councillors. We also have the Hanmer Springs Community Board and the South Ward Community Board that will require representation.

Campaigning - Council Resources

Candidates are not permitted to use council resources for campaigning purposes. Council resources includes but are not limited to council’s logo and branding, website, council taken photos of buildings and amenities or landmarks, any forms of social media, computers, email, mobile phones, faxes, stationery, photocopiers, printers, stamps, cars, meeting rooms and venues (except those available for public hire).

For avoidance of doubt, the Hurunui District Council's Facebook page, Twitter, LinkedIn and website must not be used for electioneering purposes. Any post - positive or negative - made by any individual specifically relating to their own - or someone else's - nomination, intention to run for Council or election campaign, will be removed immediately.
