Guaranteed improvements for Cheviot Community Health Centre

Alterations will continue at the Cheviot Community Health Centre.

The Cheviot Community Committee’s quest for more funding to continue alterations to its health centre and carpark was deemed successful at this week’s Council meeting.

Council approved a continued targeted rate for Cheviot’s ratepayers to FY2034/35, to cover the estimated $253,000 required for further modernising of the existing building - a multi-use facility for doctors, physios, podiatrists, counsellors, and an isolation room for patients who are awaiting an ambulance.

The Community Health Board which manages the Cheviot Community Health Centre is run by five volunteers, its chair Peter Grigg said he is extremely grateful to the community for its continued support.

“We will do our utmost to continue to supply the community with the best medical care.”

Council agreed to make the funds available now so works can continue, as per the wishes of the Committee and the Cheviot Community Trust (trading as Cheviot Community Health Centre).

All quotes for the project have been reviewed by an independent quantity surveyor who has identified the lowest priced submissions for both building and carpark works.

The targeted rate is currently set at $60 per annum for all Cheviot ratepayers.

Mayor Marie Black acknowledged the volunteers who work hard to ensure that facilities are up to spec and able to support the delivery of quality health care to the community.
