Submissions are now closed.

What happens next?

• Officers are now summarising the submissions received. Once this has been completed the summary of submissions will be publicly notified and there is an opportunity to make a further submission.
• The further submission period is no longer than 10 working days from the date the summary of submissions was notified. All submitters will be directly advised and a public notice placed in the North Canterbury News.
• When notifying the summary of submissions, the Council only has to serve a copy of the public notice on submitters, rather than the summary itself. However, if a submitter requests the summary the Council must provide this within three working days. All submissions and summary of submissions will be made available on this webpage.
• A further submission is limited to a matter in support of, or in opposition to, an original submission.
• A further submission can be made if you have an interest greater than the general public, or represent a relevant aspect of public interest. You don't have to have made an original submission.

• After the close of further submissions, a hearing will be held for anyone who has identified they wish to speak in support of their submissions and/or further submission. An independent hearings commissioner or hearing panel will be appointed.
• The Hearings Panel will make a recommendation to the Council.
• Any submitter has the right to appeal the decision of Council to the Environment Court.
