A new kiwi driver
What a milestone for Dennis, who has completed his overseas driver licence conversion.
Supported throughout the process by Culverden-based mentor Craig Ritchie of Hurunui District Council’s Community Driver Mentor Programme, Dennis is thrilled that he can now drive on a New Zealand driver licence, as until now he has driven with his overseas car licence, which is valid for only eighteen months.
Dennis wanted to express a huge thank you to Craig, who taught him all the techniques to become a confident and safe driver.
“I truly appreciate your effort, patience, and guidance from start to finish until I passed my practical test. Thank you so much, my ‘mentor.’”
This achievement would not have been possible without his supportive employer, for allowing him time to take his practical test when he was on roster.
Dennis is grateful to his friend who told him and his partner about this Programme, and encouraging him to enrol.

This Programme is very popular throughout Hurunui, and it’d be great to have more driver mentors for the Culverden‑based programme.
