Charles Upham VC and Bar 1908-1994
Local farmer Charles Upham would become the only combat soldier ever to win the Victoria Cross and bar - the most highly decorated commonwealth soldier of the conflict.
The surviving records created by all predecessor local authorities in the area, roughly bounded by the Ashley and Conway Rivers.

Rewi Alley 1897-1987
Rewi Alley attended Amberley Primary School, where his father was Headmaster and which has a Hall named after him.
