The final result for the Hurunui District Council elections held on Saturday 11 October 2025 is as follows.

MAYORALTY

As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Marie BLACK is elected unopposed.

WEST WARD

Christopher CARTHY, Tom DAVIES, Dave HISLOP and Chris SCARLET are declared elected.

EAST WARD (2 vacancies)

As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Vincent DALY and Fiona HARRIS are elected unopposed.

SOUTH WARD

Robbie BRUERTON, Steve HUTT, Brett JONES and Pauline WHITE are declared elected.

HANMER SPRINGS COMMUNITY BOARD (5 vacancies)

As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Lorna DAVIES, Chris HUGHEY, Alice STIELOW, Ann TOOMEY are elected unopposed.

SOUTH WARD COMMUNITY BOARD

*Section 88A of the Local Electoral Act provides that if a person is declared to be elected as a member of the council, and that person is also declared to be elected as a member of a community board, that person must be treated as having vacated office as a member of the community board.

Anneka CUMMING, James HYDE, Kevin ROCHE, Geoff SHIER and Hamish TROLOVE are declared elected.

CHEVIOT LICENSING TRUST (6 vacancies)

As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Steve COLEMAN, Murray L. CRAMPTON, Geoff DENTON, Phil DUNCAN, Susan HARRISON and Frayne HAZELDINE are elected unopposed.

The voter return was 39.55%, being 3,845 votes, including special votes.

The Local Government Commission have provided the determination for the Representation of the Hurunui District due to appeals being received on the Councils Final Proposal. Summary of the Decision

In accordance with section 19R of the Local Electoral Act 2001, the Local Government Commission determined that for at least the triennial general election of the Hurunui District Council to be held on 11 October 2025, the following representation arrangements will apply:

The District will remain split into three wards with one Mayor:

There will be two community Boards:

*number of members elected by the electors of each community. The appointed members are additional. The Mayor does not form part of a Community Board membership.

A by-election has been held to fill an extraordinary vacancy on the Hanmer Springs Community Board. The vacancy arose from the recent passing of Mr Richard Tapper.

2022 Triennial Elections - DECLARATION OF RESULT

The final result for the Hurunui District Council elections held on Saturday 8th October is as follows.

Vincent DALY and Fiona HARRIS are declared elected.

Robbie BRUERTON, Garry JACKSON, Vanessa MCPHERSON and Pauline WHITE are declared elected.

Steve COLEMAN, Murray CRAMPTON, Geoff DENTON, Sue HARRISON, Glen MCNABB and Kait MURRAY are declared elected.

The voter return was 43.43%, being 4,050 votes, excluding special votes.
