The South Ward Community Board is a statutory governance body to be established at the 11 October 2025 local body elections to provide local representation for the South Ward community. There will be five elected Community Board members and two South Ward Councillors who will be nominated by the full Council.
The purpose of a community board is to represent and act as an advocate for the interests of its community on a local level and work collaboratively with the Council to achieve community goals.
Where funded by the South Ward amenity rates, the community board is responsible for recreation reserves, ward beautification, footpaths, street lighting, street trees, township maintenance, public halls and road naming.
