OUR FUNDERS
As a community team we can't thank the following current funders enough; without them our work wouldn't be what it is today.
Ara Taiohi: Funders of our Youth Week events. Youth Week is a nationwide campaign that runs yearly during May. It centres around recognising the value, awesomeness, and impact of rangatahi, and to champion a society that supports young people to thrive.
Department of Internal Affairs: Funders of Together Hurunui, our Community Hub (events trailer) and past funder of our youth worker via Lotteries funding. The Community Operations section of DIA works with and for community, hapū and iwi to support the building of community connection, innovation and the empowering of local people to create positive change in their communities.
MainPower: co-funders of the 'Snack Food in Schools' initiative and the MainPower Pantry within our area schools.
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment: funders of the Welcoming Communities Programme.
Ministry of Social Development: Funders of the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs - Community Employment Programme. This initiative aims to help young people not in education, employment, or training and others facing barriers to work.
Rātā Foundation: Funders of the Hurunui Youth Programme, and contributor to the MainPower Amberley Pool rebuild. The Rātā Foundation strives to support communities so that nothing gets in the way of its people being able to make the most of life; and together they’re able to care for each other and their environment.
Snowgrass Charitable Trust: Funder of our local initiative SEED programme that is designed to support young people aged 15+ as they transition from school into their next chapter.
COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS
The following organisations play an important role in our work, they provide support, advocacy, connections and essential relationships.
Age friendly Aotearoa New Zealand: The Age friendly Aotearoa New Zealand programme is led by the Office for Seniors and provides guidance and support for communities that are exploring or committed to becoming age friendly. Council joined March 2023.
Food Secure North Canterbury focused on developing food resilience in our community. Its a collaborative district wide project aiming to bring people together, knowledge, and resources to feed and empower North Canterbury.
Inspiring Communities: supporting and growing community led development (CLD) practices and outcomes across Aotearoa New Zealand by connecting, mentoring and supporting individuals, organisations and communities. They are experts at weaving connections and collaborations across sectors and communities.
North Canterbury Youth Futures Is a group formed to support youth pathways beyond school age, transitioning to tertiary study, employment and opportunities. It aims to showcase careers that North Canterbury offers.
Rerenga Awa | Canterbury Youth Workers Collective: Consists of youth workers and youth services in the province of Canterbury, and has been an Incorporated Society since 1986 with a Charitable Trust status. It exist to support those who work with youth by providing professional development, networking opportunities, accountability, information, and resource sharing.
