Mayors Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ)
Supporting young people into work or further study
MTFJ is a Ministry of Social Development funded programme that connects local businesses with young people, creating sustainable employment opportunities. The Community Employment Programme has been running since 2019 and continues to make a real impact in our district.
Mayor Marie Black describes it as one of the most exciting initiatives in our community:
“It’s about building trust and connecting our young people with local employers. These relationships strengthen our district and open real pathways to long-term success.”
MTFJ offers:
- Mentoring and pastoral support
- Help with becoming work ready
- Driver licensing support
- Community projects and working bees
- One-to-one guidance and workshops
We partner closely with local businesses to grow a strong, skilled workforce. Funding and support are available for employers who come on board.
