Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2023
The Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2023 was adopted by Council in June 2023 and defines specific goals, objectives and targets for managing and funding waste in Hurunui for six years from 1 July 2023.

Education - Community Groups, Schools and Pre-Schools.
Council provides a free education and awareness raising programme, which is specific to Hurunui, and enables pupils, teachers, staff and community groups to learn:
- What to put in the recycling bag, what services are available at transfer stations and what other recycling schemes are available.
- How to reduce waste at home, school or work.
- How to re-use and recycle resources.
- How to compost garden and food waste.
- Wise purchasing choices and litter free lunches.
- How waste and recycling is managed in Hurunui.
- How to support the national Love Food, Hate Waste campaign.
