🔍 How It Works
- LBP* applies for a PIM: Submit preliminary plans including site plan, drainage, elevations, floor plan, and stormwater design (if available).
- PIM Issued (within 5 working days): A Building Officer will contact you to discuss the PIM findings.
- Resolve PIM Issues: Your LBP designer addresses any planning, stormwater, or other requirements identified.
- The LBP designer notifies HDC of Intent to Apply: Give 24 hours’ notice to building@hurunui.govt.nz before submitting your Building Consent (BC) application.
- Submit BC Application: Once accepted, your application will be processed and approved within 24 hours (subject to any RFI’s being able to be resolved in that time).
✅ Conditions for Eligibility
- The project must be a new dwelling (max R2 complexity).
- The PIM must be approved before submitting the BC.
- All PIM requirements must be resolved prior to BC submission.
- No Requests for Information (RFIs)— our team will work designers to try and resolve any issues in the 24hr period.
- Our team can only process up to two 24-hour applications per day (we have a limited in house processing capacity – FYI the maximum number of house applications that we have ever received is 1 per day).
- The applicant* must be pre-approved.
🧑💼 Approved Applicant Criteria
- Submit at least two qualifying houses per year.
- Be a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) designer.
- Attend a one-on-one meeting with the HDC Manager Building.
